Transplant

Transplant: To move a plant from one location to another, typically from a container to the garden or from one garden bed to another.

Think of transplanting as a moving day for your plants, like relocating them to a new home where they can spread their roots and grow. It’s about carefully digging them up from their current spot and replanting them in a new one, giving them a fresh start. Imagine gently lifting a tomato seedling from its small pot and placing it into a sunny spot in your garden bed.

In a home garden, transplanting is common, especially for seedlings started indoors or for moving established plants to a more suitable location. It’s like giving your plants a change of scenery, a chance to thrive in a new environment. However, it’s important to transplant at the right time and to minimize root disturbance, as transplant shock can stress or even kill plants. It’s like moving to a new house–you want to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Ultimately, transplanting is a valuable gardening technique that allows you to control where and when your plants grow. It’s about giving them the best possible start in their new home, ensuring they have the space and resources they need to flourish.
