Manure: Animal waste used as fertilizer.
Manure is a fantastic, natural way to add nutrients to your garden soil. It’s basically animal poop, and it’s been used for centuries to help plants grow. Different animals produce different types of manure, and each has its own mix of nutrients. Cow manure is a common one, but you might also find chicken, horse, or even bat guano (bat poop!) for your garden.
Using manure can improve your soil in many ways. It adds essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which are like the building blocks plants need to thrive. It also helps improve the soil’s structure, making it easier for water and air to reach plant roots. Be careful, though. Fresh manure can sometimes be too strong for plants and might “burn” them. It’s often best to use aged or composted manure, which is safer and gentler.
