Blister: A raised area of the epidermis containing watery fluid.
In gardening, “blister” isn’t usually something you’d want to find on your plants. It can refer to a symptom of certain plant diseases or pest infestations. For example, some fungal diseases can cause blisters on leaves or stems. Certain insects, like some types of mites, can also cause blister-like swellings on plant tissue.
If you see blisters on your plants, it’s a good idea to inspect to try and identify the cause. Are there any insects present? Do the blisters appear to be spreading? Knowing the cause will help you determine the best course of action, which might involve removing affected leaves, applying a fungicide or insecticide, or improving air circulation around the plant.
