Bacterial: Relating to or caused by bacteria.
In gardening, the term “bacterial” often refers to plant diseases caused by bacteria. Just like humans, plants can get sick from bacterial infections. These infections can cause a variety of problems, such as leaf spots, wilting, and root rot. Identifying bacterial diseases can be tricky, as they sometimes resemble fungal problems.
Bacterial diseases often spread through water, contaminated tools, or even insects. Preventing them often involves good garden hygiene, like removing infected plant material and not over-watering. Sometimes, copper-based fungicides are used to treat certain bacterial diseases, but it’s always best to try and prevent them in the first place.
